I will not be in Monday. I will be in Tuesday and perhaps Wednesday. Email links to your page, this is your final. All work should be on your page, assignments are listed again below ( Do not include phone posting in black.) I believe our final is listed for the 16th I told you the 15th. I’ll afford anyone who needs it, the additional day. If there is anyone out there who requires an incomplete, let me see what you have; then let’s talk, (After playing around with these I find they’re serious, so I don’t want to play loose with them.)

1. Open Google Accounts- Gmail, Picasa (Picasaweb.google.com <http://picasaweb.google.com/> ), Blogger (some are using other Blog sites), Download Journalism 2.0.
2. Read Journalism 2.0, Chapter 8- (digital Photos)
3. Photograph- a person you do not know, get names. They should be living their lives and you should have a caption (who,What, When Why...)  Make a number of pictures, different shots, keep an eye out for potent moments. Invest quality time here.
4. Blog page- Start and upload the photograph ( this is how you will deliver your assignments (professional, portfolio.)
5. Familiarize your self with these sites * they are loaded with tutorials and Articles.
6. Photoshop Assignment- Do three things to a photo in Photoshop and upload to your page
7. Phone (mobile) posting- Make two phone posts ^ per week, to VisCom S09  (or email to address^below)
8. A picture Story, keep it simple. We will use it in a “timeline” in Final Cut (These are your photos, your story.)

Hello Visual Communicators,

Let’s finish our work.

I write today to inform you of a Photography Show. Attached is a poster (announcement) for a photography show and lecture to be given Friday, in the Gallery Lounge of Blackburn, 7-9:30.

It has been sometime coming and at the last minute has materialized. Marvin Jones is a local photographer and Dr. Ahmed is with the Islamic Development Bank and originates from “Somaliland.” Somaliland is not what we know as Somalia. It has a complicated history, which Dr. Ahmed will illuminate during his talk. Marvin Jones will talk about his work and collaboration with Dr. Ahmed.

I will introduce them and place this work in the context of Photography, Journalism, Documentary, Advocacy and Storytelling. They will speak of their interests and motivations and then there will be time for Q&A.

My introduction is a minor part of this affair, a series of Photography shows will follow. Ron Beverly of the Fine Arts Department and I will be developing them in a cooperative effort between the Journalism Dept. of the School of Communication and the Fine Arts Dept of COAS.

Bottom line it's time to chart a course to your destination. What grade do you want? Have you earned it already? Is there something you want to do that I have not touched? Extra credit will only be considered if you have done the things I have asked you to do. Again, everything you have experienced is about your creative process. Recognize what you have created and the way you did it; now move forward.

Add an audio track to your still video in Final Cut (Apple Rich Media tutorial) (#15) and embed it in your page.  If you need to get a boost in scriptwriting, there is a chapter in Journalism 2.0.

Hello Visual Communicators,

We are coming to a close rapidly, only a few weeks left. Anyone who has not done work should seriously be considering dropping the course, as failures dramatically affect your GPA.

For the rest of us, we will look at Final Cut Thursday. Bring your still picture story so we can drop images into a Final Cut timeline. We need to start thinking, long form narrative. Did you read the article I attached to the other email this morning? Do.

Next Tuesday there will be guests in the building, so come to class prepared, we’d like you to look like the brilliant students you are. There are meetings scheduled with students Mon, Tues and Wed. If you are interested in speaking to, or hearing the assessments of the accrediting team, please track down the meetings. Please get your Blog pages updated and send me links immediately. Numbers 11 and 12 below ( green assignments) should be read, as they will help you considerably in the work coming up. Remember it is your job to learn to use any software, I can teach concepts but you must practice with the tools of your craft.
